They searched the world to assemble a unique team, starting with a renowned naval architect, complemented by a pedigreed, UK interior designer, a proven Brazilian shipyard, and modern state-of-the-art equipment for interior technology and machinery – all under tight and rigorous project management. OYD performed the naval architecture for M/Y Evolve, a 135-foot tideck explorer set to launch in early 2011.

As explained in "THE RIGHT HULL FOR THE RIGHT JOB" and "ENGINEERING" sections of our website, OYD creates a specific hull for the specific purpose to achieve the client's goals. In addition to meeting the above requirements, OYD was tasked to create Evolve's hull form that would not only be cost effective to build, but also maintain all the qualities required of a global explorer. Our solution was a soft chine hull with some features taken from our proprietary "fast displacement" hull forms.

After completion of the preliminary design, OYD developed and refined the hull form throughout the stability analysis and weight study. Extensive tank tests followed at various speeds, sea states, running angles, and stationary roll decay tests in various wave periods. The tests confirmed the excellent performance and handling characterists of this hull with no modifications required to one of our latest, hybird hull forms. The adjacent picture of our 41 meter hull is underway at an impressive 14 knots in a Seastate 4.
